Mind Over Matter
Rebecca McKenney grieved the loss of her daughter for three years. Now, a vision showing Sabrina three years older, suggests her baby is still alive, and the FBI agent who gave up the search is the only one who can help find her. Special Agent Dan Cooper is haunted by a tragic mistake made early in the investigation of Sabrina’s disappearance. Now to ease his conscience he agrees to help Rebecca search. Together they fight inner demons, all to real bad guys, and an attraction neither wants to admit to. Each step closer to finding Sabrina is a step deeper into deception and evil. Can Rebecca and Dan save Sabrina before it’s too late?

Interview with Sandra Clarke
Tell us a little bit about your book and have you published before?
Mind Over Matter is about a mother who faces her worst nightmare when she discovers her missing daughter is not only alive, but scheduled to die in mere days. I was incredibly fortunate to sell this debut novel to MusItUp Publshing. I’m extremely grateful for the positive reception this book has enjoyed to date. Mind finaled in the Colorado Romance Writers Best Romantic Suspense of the 2011 Award of Excellence contest, won 2nd Place for Best First Book, Published Category, of the 2012 Romance Through The Ages, (RTTA) contest, and received the Top Pick Reviewer’s Award and was nominated for Best Romantic Suspense of 2011 by The Romance Reviews. Currently, Mind is a Maggie finalist in the Published Category. Georgia Romance Writers will announce the winner October 5, 2012.
Will this be the only book in the series?
This is book one in a planned series of five. Each book will focus on a different member of the ASI team. Book two, Forecasting Raine, is Nick’s story. Mountain Getaway is book three and is all about Ryker. I’m still working on both of them. Yes, I know there are more than 5 team members, but you’ll have to read the series to figure out why there are only 5 books planned.
Are you currently working on anything else?
I’ve put a lot of focus this year on The Missing Time, a stand-alone book. This book, though not yet polished to publication level, has already garnered award interest. Time placed 5th overall in the Romantic Suspense category for The 2012 Catherine, a Toronto Chapter RWA contest. I’m overjoyed to share that Time is the winner of The 2012 Golden Claddagh in the Published category.
What is your favorite writing snack?
Twizzlers. Original Strawberry. Especially during edits!
What gets you in the mood to write?
Oh my. What doesn’t? I’m inspired by the smallest things all day long – but not usually when it’s a convenient time to sit down and write. I set regular writing hours and I usually stick to them. Right now, I’m home writing full time. I sit down at my desk at 8 am, fiddle with social media for about an hour and then start writing. I go to around 4, when the kids get home from school.
Who is your favorite character and why?
I love Jordan, the heroine of The Missing Time if I’m picking one of my own. Otherwise I have to give the win to Eve Dallas of the JD Robb, In Death series. She is unforgettable.
Favorite book of all time?
I can’t pick just one, and you can’t make me. ?
I think breakfast says a lot about a person, what is your perfect breakfast?
If that’s the case, I’m afraid of what my choices reveal about me. ? I don’t really eat until I’ve been up for a couple of hours. I just drink loads of tea. By then, I’m so into what I’m doing that I usually grab something quick and easy. I can’t believe I’m telling you this! Quick and easy usually means a Sweet & Salty bar or a Rice Crispy Square. What? It’s fortified cereal. Don’t judge me. ?
Do you have a favorite period of time that you like to write about or
would like to live?
I like our contemporary world. I used to read a lot of historicals, but the research involved in writing the genre intimidates me. I can’t imagine living in that era. I live for modern conveniences.
Please tell us in one sentence why we should read your book!
If you love stories with a vulnerable, flawed heroine who explores absolution
with a sexy, hurting hunk,
a spine-chilling crime with the ultimate at stake and
the slightest paranormal twist,
then this is the book for you!
