Elena lives and writes in a suburb North of Los Angeles. She has never lived anywhere besides California which is probably a good thing since she hates being cold and is terrified to drive in the snow. She loves being a wife and a mother to her two kids and three dogs, although really the bulldog is the fourth child who has never matured beyond the toddler stage.

A self proclaimed nerd, she has been writing since she was a child. She has only recently, however, come out of the closet about this to her family and friends. They now understand better, but not completely, why she talks about characters in stories as if they are real people.

Tell us a little bit about your book.

Crushing is a YA Romantic Suspense about Rory who is adored by her family and expected to live the life her parents have set for her until her childhood crush moves back to town. He’s a bit of a bad boy so she has to choose her happiness or her family’s approval.  On top of that someone kidnaps her friend and she’s thrown in the middle of a very dangerous situation.

Have you published before?

Yes I published my first book “Breathe” in December.

Are you currently working on anything else?

Yes, I’m working on my third book which will take place in the “Breathe” universe.

What is your favorite writing snack?

Usually crackers or fruit. Anything easy to grab so I don’t have to stop for long.

What gets you in the mood to write?

I sometimes have to bore my muse into feeling like writing. If I just sit at my desk, clear my mind she gets bored quickly and usually has something to say.

Who is your favorite character and why?

My favorite character in this book is probably Bailee, the dog. Adorable, funny and always there when I needed her. She’s also the one character that doesn’t argue about what I’m doing with her character. She was always enthusiastic. The others? Not so much.

Favorite book of all time?

So difficult but I chose anyway. To Kill A Mockingbird. The subtlety and beauty of the writing while covering a difficult and disturbing subject always grabs me.

I think breakfast says a lot about a person, what is your perfect breakfast?

I think it’s got to be Eggs Benedict with Cinnamon French Toast a close second.

Do you have a favorite period of time that you like to write about or would like to live?

I like to write Contemporary but live? Maybe the 50’s?  It seem a much simpler time but I wouldn’t have to live in a covered wagon or something.  I’m one of those people that would never have made it! Lol.

What would you do if you discovered your husband was abusing your daughter and you’d been too busy focusing on your career to notice? I would be devastated and so was Helen. This book was emotional and hard at times but was a fast paced psychological thriller. I’d say it would make a great movie but we all know the books are always better

This story evoked so many emotions, from disgust to horror to nail-biting terror. The characters were well-written, which was both wonderful and frightening.
