A Destined Death by Lisa Rayns
Tell us a little bit about your book and have you published before?
A Destined Death is a lighthearted and suspenseful paranormal romance about soul mates.
Yes. My first novel, Wanted: Vampire – Free Blood, was just released by The Wild Rose Press on August 24th. Besides that I’ve published an urban fantasy novella, Curse of the Egyptian Goddess, and a short story in a paranormal romance anthology called Cupid Pained Blind.
Will this be the only book in the series?
This book has been a stand-alone since its creation but the beta readers and a few of the people who’ve read it since the release say they want more. So, I’ve decided to leave it up to the readers. I’ve created a Facebook page for A Destined Death for people to “Like” if they want more as a way to vote. If I get enough interest, I would love to write more about these characters.
Are you currently working on anything else?
Always working. Right now, I’m concentrating on the Wanted: Vampire series to completion. I’m planning three more books to follow Free Blood.
Do you have any advice for authors wanting to publish? (Why did you choose to go indie? If this applies – If not why traditional)
Since I’ve done both, I’d say the most important advice is to never give up on your dream.
Large publishing companies only want published authors and the smaller publishers can’t do much to advertise. Plus, the time you have to put into submissions and then waiting to hear back is excruciating. It’s taken sixteen months from the time I submitted my manuscript to release date. That’s nearly two years of my life that people could have been enjoying my book.
That was the choice I made because I hope to see Wanted: Vampire – Free Blood as a movie one day and I think it’ll help if I have a publisher. (Yes, there is my crazy, optimistic confession.)
Many Indie authors like Amanda Hocking have proven you don’t need a publisher to find success. Each author has to decide what’s right for them.
What is your favorite writing snack?
Twizzlers.
What gets you in the mood to write?
A quiet house. Music. Wine. Bight colors.
Who is your favorite character and why?
Draven is my favorite character in this book. He is the man of my fantasies and the inspiration for this story.
Favorite book of all time?
I spent four years on Wanted: Vampire – Free Blood so I think it’s my favorite book of all time. After all, I write what I like.
I think breakfast says a lot about a person, what is your perfect breakfast?
I believe bacon is the correct response.
Do you have a favorite period of time that you like to write about or would like to live?
I prefer to write in the present time period although I’ve recently started reading historical romances and I’m finding I REALLY like them. Perhaps, my fascination will lead me somewhere in the future.
Please tell us in one sentence why we should read your book!
Frustration ran over his features again before he shot me the most charming smile I’d ever seen, cocking his head to the right as he leaned closer to me. “Please.”
